Captain: Peter Spurgeon
Peter Spurgeon - Captain
Our captain Peter Spurgeon of Scottish heritage, but calls Florida his home when he's not exploring the waters of the Caribbean and beyond with clients.
With lifelong experience in and around boats as well as a wide range of watersports including windsurfing, water skiing, sailing, and scuba diving, Spurgeon believes that each and every aspect of any yacht charter plays an important role in the overall experience. He goes above and beyond to make sure clients feel comfortable, safe and are having a one of a kind experience that are sure to never forget.
Not only is he certified in a variety of watersports activities including PADI open water diving, windsurfing, and water skilling, he has all the necessary (and many more) boating certifications to ensure guests experience a smooth voyage. Peter is certified in CPR and first aid. He is also an Army Physical Training Instructor - so guests are indeed in excellent hands.
Spurgeon is no stranger to the hospitality industry as well, with extensive experience crewing yachts and other boats around the world (including the Maldives, Australia, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, Florida Keys, and South America) as well as owning and maintaining his own watersports experience companies in Greece and Tenerife. What's more, he was the resort leisure manager at the prestigious Four Seasons in India, responsible for running the largest watersports facility in India.
In addition, he has had his own moments in the spotlight, participating in the Travel Channel's Sail Of The Century With Geraldo Rivera from New Zealand to Ecuador in 2000, and sailing over 3000m from the Maldives to Darwin, Australia in 1999. In more recent years, Spurgeon has crewed and captained yachts throughout the Bahamas, South Florida, and Caribbean.
When he is not captaining M/Y Julia Dorothy, Spurgeon enjoys traveling different parts of the world, surfing, and skiing.
Beau Hills - Deckhand
Born in the tropical paradise of Costa Rica, our junior captain/first mate Beau J. Hills grew up in a tropical paradise, and now he enjoys helping our guests discover the many wonders of the Caribbean, South Florida, Miami, and beyond.
With experience running all aspects of a yacht or megayacht and ensuring that guests have an amazing voyage, Hills is familiar with everything from boat maintenance to first aid and CPR (with certifications in both) making him a remarkable asset to the Y Charter crew. Throughout his career, Hills has been responsible for crewing a number of yachts and megayachts in South Florida, Cuba, the Bahamas, and the Southeast coast of the United States.
He is PADI open water certified in addition to his many boating certifications, lending him the ability to not only ensure that his guests have a smooth journey, but an entertaining one as well exploring the waters of the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, and further abroad.
When he's at home in South Florida, Hills likes to spend time with his family, play soccer, scuba dive, swim, and travel the world - perhaps discovering new destinations for a charter voyage.
